My School (T1 W4)

I think that the clocktower is my favorite part of the school because it is where everything started.  This is the most iconic part of the whole school.  The clock tower is where all the best students are at, the clock tower can be seen just by just driving down Bukit Timah Road, the clock tower in the centre of the school, you would have to walk pass it whenever you are getting from one place to another.  To me the clock tower is not just a clock tower, it holds my first memories when coming into Hwa Chong.  If one day the clock tower has been demolished, the school will not be as famous as it is right now, it will be printed so vividly into people's memories.  Thc clock tower is part of me, it is part of my identity, as this where the Hwa Chong spirit is the strongest, thus the pride of being a Hwa Chongian is also the strongest at the tower.

Cartoon on Helpfulness (HBL)

This cartoon is about how you can help others .  I think the being helpful is very important in our everyday lifestyle as if helpfulness does not exist, the world will be less happy.  The background depicts a lonely street with only 2 people.  When the old women slips and fall. The man being the only man on the street rushes to support her.  This shows the initiative of the man as he could have just walk away but he did not.   I think that this man is being a helpful and nice man to the people in his environment.

Where is the Love? (T1 W3)

The song where is the love is very touching and at the sme time very meaningful.  This is because the lyrics is about all the chaos and trouble caused in the world.  To me, I feel that the song is talking about what’s going wronglyaround us and it points out that people are lacking love, which makes them act the way they do example discrimination and terrorism.

The song mentions a lot on 'reknown' terrorist organisations to show the listeners the number of people involved in this vicious cycle without love.  Driscrimination is also mentioned in the song as it is still a major problem in modern society.  The Black Eye Peas has also put much thought into this song as the chorus is also very meaningful.  It repeats the phrase‘where is the love’ 6 times, trying the emphasize its importance.'But if you only have love for your own race then you only leave space to discriminate and to discriminate only generates hate' is also another meaning ful line telling everyone the stages in the vicious cycle without love.

In a whole, I think that the theme sung in the song 'Where is the Love?' (Love) is very important to everyone as everyone needs love.  The artist (The Black Eye Peas) have put in much thoughts to put across such an pressing issue in the form of a song that would reach out to much more people.

Tron: Legacy (T1 W2)

2 weeks ago I went out with my friends to watch the show "Tron The Legacy".  This movie is about this young man who is jobless and has a missing father, Sam then enters a different world where exciting adventures happen.

Before his father disapearred, his father told him stories of 'The Grid'. This was an arena where programs battle it out on futuristics motorcycle.  One day he got a message for him to go his father's old arcade. There, Sam put a coin into the machine and a secret door popped open. He went in and found his father's old study place.  There he found his way into 'The Grid'. In 'The Grid', he was geared up to fight. There he found out his father's double (Clu). After meeting Clu, he challenge Sam to 'The Grid'.

In the middle of the match when Sam was almost killed by Clu, a mysterious girl comes in to the ring and saves Sam. This girl was later known as Quorra. Quorra brought Sam to meet his father (Kevin).  There he was told that Clu who was suppose to be an ally, became Kevin's enemy.  Later on, Quorra, Kevin and Sam went to open the portal to return to the real world. However at the climax of the story when Quorra and Sam has made it to portal, Kevin decided to destroy Clu along with himself and the whole grid. At the end of the story, Sam and Quorra were back in the real world where Sam has decided to take back his father's company.

After watching this movie, I have learnt that family is the most important part in someone's life. Like Sam in the story, he grew up as an orphan, he was never happy and always got into trouble.  However after Sam has went to the grid and met his father, Sam was happier as now he did not take his father for granted.  I also felt that no matter how hectic our schedule is, we must make time for our family, as they will not be there forever.  To add on, we must appreciate what our parents and relatives are doing for us as they always mean good.  To sum up, the movie " Tron: Legacy" has emphasized 3 major things, that is : treasure your family, appreciate what they are doing for you. Last but not least, repay them by doing your best in everything you do.
